Russian as a Foreign Language
My name is Elena Petrenko, I am an Associate Professor of the Russian Language Chair at Omsk Armor Engineering Institute. I am a Candidate of Philology.
For several years now I have been teaching Russian as a foreign language to foreign military personnel who study at our institute. Cadets from more than 30 countries study at our institute, therefore, the geography is very wide as well as the range of languages: Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Moreover, being a person with rich philological background and experience, I realized that teaching Russian as a foreign language is an absolutely specific area in teaching Russian which requires specific background.
And I realized that my background was not enough for me, so I entered Omsk State University to study Russian as a foreign language. Master’s programme provides both theoretical and practical knowledge; it helps me a lot in my work and practice. Well, and I hope that in the future I will put into practice all knowledge and experience that I got here at the university.
Many thanks to the teaching staff of the university, this is a very great experience in my life.
